Silent Conversation
One of the most famous Iranian poets, Saadi Shirazi, wrote extensively about the significance of the eyes in Persian literature. In his book "The Gulistan," he wrote:
"The tongue may hide the truth but the eyes—never! They are the messengers of our souls, revealing our innermost thoughts and feelings."
Through this project, I sought to demonstrate the potential for the gaze to become the primary means of communication in artistic practice. This project offers an immersive experience that explores the interconnectedness of humanity, transcending the boundaries of language, culture, and geography. By doing so, I aimed to connect participants on a deep level, accessing the soul through the lens of the eyes.
In the "Silent Conversation," participants engage in a dialogue without the use of words, relying solely on the power of observation through eye contact. This practice allows for a deeper connection and understanding of the other person, as it requires a heightened level of attention and presence.
